Stone Bunny

Description

This is one of series of bunnies I painted last spring using Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolors, including:
- Genuine Lapis Lazuli, a rich blue gemstome mined in the mountains of South America.
- Natural Kingman Green Turquoise Genuine, a greenish turquoise mined near Kingman, Arizona.
- Hematite, or Bloodstone, ground from a heavy silvery-black mineral rich in iron. Ancient warriors covered their bodies with Hematite in the belief it would protect them from mortal wounds.
- Minnesota Pipestone, a sacred mineral used by the Plains Indians for making of pipes.
I love these paints, but they are very granular and "gritty". There are eight bunnies in this series, and eight more in a blue series.
